Project Overview

Abstract
My EDGE Project will involve facilitating a dance program here in Cedar. I will be planning the classes and organizing teachers, as well as teaching children dance of different styles.
I will be in charge of creating the schedules, deciding what will be in the curriculum, organizing teachers, creating lesson plans, and showcases. There are some aspects of this program that are formed, but I plan on adding to it and helping it gain more standing in the community. I plan to begin teaching dance classes for preschool aged children (ranging from 3-4 years) and to create more curriculum that will help the children find and develop their creativity and confidence as well as their dance technique.
Project Goal
For my EDGE project I plan to bring dance to children of all ages, backgrounds and experiences while gaining leadership and organizational skills.
Outcomes
As I execute this project I will be gaining skills as a leader and a teacher. I will be learning how I teach and how to improve in this area. I will also be providing children a safe environment to explore and learn. This can have a profound effect on children’s lives and development.
Deliverables
I will provide lesson plans, and teaching schedules as well as the revisions that were made to these plans. I will also provide reflections about what worked well and what did not and my growth as a teacher and facilitator.
Differentiation
This project will make me stand out as a dance educator among my peers because it is an experience beyond the opportunities that most beginning dance educators have. Many dance majors involved in teaching at my stage of life are only involved in teaching in a few areas while I will be involved in the organizing the business side of being a dance educator as well.  I will have experience leading and organizing others and this will show that I am self motivated and that I know what I’m teaching.
Estimated Costs
The cost for my project will include buying music for the classes I teach and the cost of my time spent teaching. I plan to keep music costs under $20. As a teacher without a Bachelor’s degree I should be getting around $8.00 per hour so overall I’ll be getting about  $800. The cost of renting the room during my time period will be between $1500 to $2000.

I will begin planning and brainstorming in December, and will implement my revised plans in January. The teaching cycle will go through April, but in order to have enough time to sufficiently complete my EDGE project I plan finish recording and begin organizing my records by March 16th. I plan to teach about 10 classes per week which will mean that I will have about 100 hours by March 16th when I begin to wrap up my project.
